Pure Sounds: Gyuto Monks of Tibet |
|
New Earth Records is proud to announce our newest debut, Pure Sounds: Gyuto Monks of Tibet. The album features a minimalist studio treatment that showcases the harmonic overtone chanting of the monks without any extraneous embellishment. The Gyuto Monks of Tibet also appeared recently on Kamal's Zen Mama as one of the many rich layers he used during the creation of that sonic tapestry. Pure Sounds is currently available on the New Earth site and iTunes.

Dechen Shak-Dagsay's visit
|
New Earth Records recording artist Dechen Shak-Dagsay's recent trip to the USA has been fruitful. Following some time on the West Coast for recording, Dechen finished her trip in Santa Fe, NM at New Earth's creative offices. We wish her a safe and peaceful journey to her current home in Switzerland. A native Tibetan, Dechen has been a tireless advocate for Tibet and its people. Please stay tuned for more exciting news about Dechen's next New Earth project, coming the beginning of 2011.

Chinmaya Dunster's new video |
Chinmaya Dunster has become a voice for India, both through his music and his videography. Many of Chinmaya's concerts now incorporate a video aspect with the causes of India's people at the top of the list. Recently, Chinmaya put together a short video dealing with a former musical incarnation that is also part of New Earth Records' history called Terra Incognita Live in Munich 1990. Samples of a few other Chinmaya videos (Smiles From Off the Road is highly recommended) can also be found on our video page. Chinmaya's most recent album is Land of the Buddhas.

Back from conference in Portland, OR |
A New Earth contingent has just returned from the Allegro Music Conference in Portland, Oregon. Allegro is one of the largest distributors of both physical and digital music in the US and it takes quite a bit of organization to stay on top of it all. The conference allows for face to face meetings with sales reps and upper management and 'real time' contact that email and other means of communication can sometimes not afford creative business relationships.

Earth Day afterglow |
Visit our blog
|
Earth Day presents us each spring with a chance to remember the planet from which we have sprung. Many of the readers of this newsletter heard from us on April 22nd as we simultaneously celebrated and called attention to the current plight of our beloved planet through a special email. Since 2006, New Earth Records has printed all of its CD booklets and tray cards on recycled paper using only soy or vegetable inks.
