“As always, I am inspired by nature and use my impressions much in the way Monet transformed his love and impressions of water lilies into his final masterpiece, “Les Nympheas.” I was deeply moved when I saw “Les Nympheas” at the Musee de ‘Oranderie in Paris with its impressionistic emptiness and the vital essence of Monet’s suggested floral forms – the flowers are present, but nothing is clearly defined. It is instead left up to the viewer to create the forms within themselves. Atmospheres is a reflection of this experience. The music has no clear definition or formal structure. As experienced with Monet’s great “Nympheas,” the music fully envelops the listener…no beginning, no end.” ~C. G. Deuter
“For me, a landscape does not exist in its own right, since its appearance changes at every moment; but the surrounding atmosphere brings it to life – the light and the air which vary continually. For me, it is only the surrounding atmosphere which gives subjects their true value.” ~Claude Monet
