The Gyuto Monks of Tibet are masters of a deep, harmonic overtone chanting. The sound has been compared to the resonance of a drum or digeridoo and is believed to have a transformative effect on the listener.
The first New Earth album that the Gyuto Monks appeared on was Kamal’s Zen Mama. Their chanting was used by Kamal as an integral ingredient in the album’s layered sound. The second album, available now, is Pure Sounds: Gyuto Monks of Tibet which showcases the monks trademark chanting in a bare, direct recording that has to be heard to be believed. The organic overtones strike a nearly primal chord in the listener.
New Earth is honored to have the good fortune of featuring these important indigenous world artists… Cheers to the Gyuto Monks of Tibet!
